Welcome to Play Guitar By Numbers.

Here you can learn to play tunes in just a few minutes without reading music. Starting with a few well known folk songs this simple method will enable you to play melodic melodies and be the envy of those who simply see the guitar as something to strum. The style taught here is also ideal for those who sing like a crow with a sore throat. The guitar makes a beautiful noise so let it do the singing for you.

The first four lessons are free after that you need to buy and download the songbook.

Now click the Secret Code link in the red navigation bar and get started.
Why Melodies?
Well why not? Every other instrument plays melodies, pianos, saxophones, recorders, violas and trombones do it so why not guitars?

The world's best guitarists are not the well known speed freeks and shredders of commercial rock. The best of the best are to be found in the worlds of jazz, folk and classical music. On this site you can take those first steps to being like them, a musician's musician.

The Future.

As time goes by new song books will be made available. We shall also feature works by artists whom we deem worthy of the name.

About us.

This site is run by a guitarist with over forty years experience of gigging, teaching, retailing, designing, repairing and making guitars. If you have suggestions for future lessons or any queries about the world of guitars then use the Contact Page link to get in touch.

Why just old songs?

Lessons published here are all in the public domain unless otherwise stated. ie the composer has been dead for 70 years or more! It is awkward but it is the Law.
The positive side of this is that all these tunes have stood the test of time and survived the fickleness of publlic taste.
